Politics update
Recent Gallup polling showed 63% of U.S. adults agree with the statement
that the Republican and Democratic parties do “such a poor job” of
representing the American people that “a third major party is needed.”

I think Samuel Clements once said: When I die, I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my father, not like all those other screaming people in his car. Or something to that effect.
His focus was on how he preferred to die, but the ‘punch-line’ if that is the term, follows.
Here, this AP article focused on the effects of a third party on an election. Not the palaver causing our troubles.
And the causes seem many: Money, Money, Money.
Corporations are richer than some Countries. Individuals are richer than some Countries. And ‘some’ Politicians want to be Rich! I’m trying to be polite here.
Why Citizens United? Why unfair Taxation? Why Income Disparity? Why Businessmen/Businesswomen in Politics? Why Religion in Politics? Why, why, why... They are Tools to achieve an ‘end’.
Many ‘conservatives’ seemingly prefer the idea of a much simpler “Red Caesar”! A Dictatorship! Or maybe some kind of Dictatorship in combination with ‘Business’!
Oh, didn’t we fight WWII and loose many lives fighting such an idea?
Some people don’t trust ‘Government’, preferring ‘Business’ to run things. But businessmen have changed American politics to run more like a ‘Business’. Merely redefined “Bribery”, if I may be so bold. And favor Pay-As-You-Go! Are there no shenanigans and political intrigue in Business? No ‘spying’? Is not ‘business’ known to be ‘Cut-Throat’? At least, in the past, we have sought Transparency in government, while Business favors… nay, Demands their Privacy. And from a slightly jaundiced viewpoint, we might look at a current trial to see the effects of ‘Business Ethics’ on display, a phrase that might seem ‘oxymoronic’ when ‘Profit’ defines Corporate Goal.
Just a thought. I don't think a third party alone would change anything.
