Health update

  1. Overdose deaths: In 2021, people without any college experience had overdose death rates nine times higher than people with bachelor's degrees, a study published last week in JAMA Health Forum found.
  2. Teens with depression: In 2021, 1 in 5 adolescents had major depressive disorder, but less than half who needed treatment received any, per a study published this week in JAMA Pediatrics.
  3. Adult depression: Adults with depression are at higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, ischemic heart disease and other causes, according to a new study in JAMA Network Open.
  4. Stroke deaths are expected to rise 50% by 2050, according to a new report by the World Stroke Organization. (Read More)
