Dems discuss arresting subpoena violators

Whether Congress would be successful in enforcing a declaration of inherent contempt is unclear. Such a crime is prosecuted by the Justice Department, which could potentially decline to prosecute the charge.

The the Attorney General should be elected separately by the populace, or chosen by the house and confirmed buy the senate, but not keep it as a political appointment by the president. The candidates would need to be vetted for legal competency first, and money would need to be kept out of their election. The system we currently have causes problems like we currently have where the Justice Department can choose to ignore the will of congress, which is an end run around our democracy it's self.
