MSNBC - One of America's key promises to veterans is that they will be cared for when they return home. Yet veterans continue to face serious mental health problems without help due to a critical shortage of psychology providers at a majority of VA medical facilities, writes Kristen L. Rouse, founder of NYC Veterans Alliance. This shortage has tragic effects, as the suicide rate for male veterans is 44% higher than their civilian counterparts. A disproportionate number of people accused in mass shootings are also veterans, including the two Marine Corps veterans accused in recent mass shootings in Michigan and North Carolina. Read more.
