Robert B. Hubbell - Disney caved to pressure from the American people and allowed Jimmy Kimmel to return to his late-night comedy show. Let’s be clear: Kimmel’s return is a victory for the resistance in its defense of the Constitution.
The victory teaches us a powerful lesson that we must internalize and replicate at every opportunity: Together, there is nothing we cannot do.
We are bigger and more powerful than all the media moguls and tech billionaires and cowardly law firms who have abandoned the Constitution. We are bigger and more powerful than the president of the United States and his corrupt enablers. We are bigger and more powerful than the naysayers and issue spotters and capitulators who predicted defeat before the boycott of Disney got off the ground.
We the people. The consent of the governed. Nothing happens without us. Every dollar of obscene profits that lines the pockets of American oligarchs comes from us. And we can withhold our consent, our cooperation, our money.
If enough of us do that, we will win. We do not need to defeat Trump. We need to defeat his enablers. It is that simple and that hard.
The hasty retreat of Disney in the face of ongoing pressure from Trump, the FCC, Sinclair, and Nexstar teaches us that we can prevail by making our collective voices heard.
