Sam Smith - Contrary to most of the news coverage, it was actually Democrats who voted McCarthy out of his speakership. Only 8 Republicans voted to remove him while 210 voted in support. Meanwhile, 208 Democrats voted to remove him. The Democrats could have voted to support him or not voted at all. It remains to be seen whether this backfires on the Dems.
