The folding chair we commonly use today is indebted to the innovative mind of Nathaniel Alexander, an African American inventor. In 1911, Alexander secured a patent for his groundbreaking design, which will forever be remembered by its use this weekend on the ship pier in Montgomery, Alabama 2023.
The number of people living alone has increased significantly since 1970, especially for those 35 years and older. Nearly 16 million people ages 35-64 and those 65 years and older lived by themselves in 2022.
