Local democracy in action

NY AG James -Everyone in our country must be counted, that’s why I’m leading a coalition of 26 states, cities & municipalities to intervene and oppose Alabama’s attempts to refuse to count all its residents in the Census. No individual ceases to be a person because they lack documentation.

The constitution only requires a headcount of every person living in the US. All the extra questions are optional and do not require an answer. If 45 sneaks a citizenship question on, it still is only an optional question that can be ignored.

I never answer the other questions. I just give them the headcount then send it back, and I have never been bothered about not answering the rest of the nosy questions. There are arguably some valid reasons to answer those questions, but they are not constitutionally required.
