Times, UK - Donald Trump does not have immunity from prosecution for the hush money case in which he was convicted of fraud earlier this year, a New York judge has ruled.Lawyers for the president-elect argued the case should be thrown out after the Supreme Court ruled in July that Trump could not be prosecuted for official actions carried out as president.
However, Judge Juan Merchan has sided with prosecutors who argued that decision has “no bearing” on the conviction. It confirms that Trump will become the first convicted criminal to serve as president, assuming he does not successfully appeal against this latest ruling.
