THANKSGIVING

7 Thanksgiving Myths, Busted

NPR - If you are like me, you might not know what songs would classify as Thanksgiving music. The holiday is all about reflection and gratitude. So with those themes in mind, NPR listeners were asked for a song they’re thankful for. Hundreds of stories and song picks including Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World," "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers, and "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley were received. Listen to All Songs Considered hosts Robin Hilton and Stephen Thompson share listener's stories and songs, or listen to the playlist.

For immigrant families, Thanksgiving can be an opportunity to add their own twist and flare to an American tradition. For many people of color, gathering over diverse food offerings can be a great way to celebrate their culture with friends and family. Five immigrant families and second-generation Americans share what their Thanksgiving looks like, the dishes they most look forward to — and what the holiday means to them.
