Kamala Harris

Daily Mail UK -  When Kamala Harris took over the top of the Democratic presidential ticket from President Biden, Democrats saw enthusiasm skyrocket and polls with Donald Trump leading tightened, but there was another element in play: voter registrations surged. While voter registrations tend to increase as Election Day nears, the boost after the shakeup was significant as a massive number of young people, especially young women and women of color registering jumped dramatically.

Tom Bonier, a senior adviser to political data firm TargetSmart, has been digging into the numbers as more states release voter registration data for the week following Biden's exit from the race. He found voter registrations that week compared to the same time period in 2020 were up nearly 192 percent nationally among young black women and up 183 percent among young hispanic women. Voter registrations surged nearly 200 percent among young black and Hispanic women  in the week after Kamala Harris took over the top of the Democratic presidential ticket on July 21 compared to that time in 2020

Bonier said the surge in registrations among certain voting blocs in a short period is less significant in terms of their ability to impact the outcome of the election alone, but it can be indicative of overall turnout increases.
