Axios - Exxon to cut 2,000 jobs amid restructuring  - The oil and gas giant plans to eliminate roughly 2,000 global positions as it "consolidates smaller offices into regional hubs as part of its long-term restructuring plan," per a Bloomberg report confirmed by Axios.

State of play: "We've seen the value of bringing people together in the same location. It drives innovation, strengthens execution, enhances career development, and improves teamwork," the company said in a statement to Axios. It adds that the global office network was created decades ago "under very different circumstances" and that Exxon's now "aligning our global footprint with our operating model."

The bottom line: A number of oil giants have been shedding jobs amid lower prices, but Bloomberg notes that Exxon's been undertaking a years-long restructuring.
