Donald Trump pardons

Occupy Democrats  -  Donald Trump gets caught in a jaw-dropping scandal as it's revealed that he pardoned a man who pleaded guilty to tax crimes just one month after his mother attended a $1 million a head MAGA fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago... According to a new report from The New York Times, a pardon application was submitted for Paul Walczak around the time of Trump's inauguration. The request specifically mentioned actions by his mother, Elizabeth Fago, to support Trump and the Republican Party.

BBC - US President Donald Trump has issued a pardon to a former Virginia sheriff who was convicted on fraud and bribery charges. A jury found former Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins guilty of accepting more than $75,000 (£55,000) in bribes last December, in exchange for making several businessmen into law enforcement officers without them being trained.

Jenkins, a long-time supporter of Trump, was sentenced in March to 10 years in prison. He was set to report to jail on Tuesday, but due to Trump's pardon, he will not spend a single day behind bars. "Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his wife Patricia, and their family have been dragged through HELL," Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social network.

NBC News -   Trump sees [Jenkins] as a "victim of an overzealous Biden Department of Justice" who "doesn't deserve to spend a single day in jail." It's part of a broader pattern, in which he has pardoned at least four supportive former public officials who were convicted of financial improprieties.

That includes: Rod Blagojevich, the Democratic former governor of Illinois, over corruption charges related to bribery; Republican former Tennessee state Sen. Brian Kelsey over a campaign finance-related fraud conviction; and Republican former Las Vegas City Council member Michele Fiore, who was convicted on conspiracy and wire fraud charges and had been set to be sentenced this month. Also notably, the Trump administration moved to drop the corruption case against New York Mayor Eric Adams earlier this year.

And yesterday, the president said he plans to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, the pair known for their roles on the reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best” who are serving time for bilking banks out of tens of millions of dollars.
