What closing the Education Department would hit

Washington Post - The bulk of the money spent by the department helps children in schools in low-income communities, through Title I authorizations; children with special needs, through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); and college students, through Pell Grants.Tens of thousands of public schools make use of Title I money, and they are scattered across most school districts around the country. Money from the IDEA program is crucial in aiding local schools to defray some of the high costs of educating students with special needs. Pell Grants help needy students pay for college.
