Without a sale by Jan. 19, the popular platform will be effectively banned in the U.S. TikTok has argued that the government could have taken less drastic measures, such as subjecting its algorithm to disclosure rules. The litigants asked for a ruling by Dec. 6 to leave time for the Supreme Court to potentially review the case before the law takes effect.
