Axios - Car thieves aren't very interested in stealing electric vehicles...More than 1 million vehicles were stolen in the U.S. in 2023. Four of the six least-stolen models were EVs, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Experts aren't sure why this is the case, but they have a few theories — mainly that EVs are confusing.
- The tech in EVs is still unfamiliar for a lot of people, and thieves won't have the apps or keycards that some models require.
