NBC -Thousands of workers at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, the Downtown Disney retail district and Disney-owned hotels voted late last night to authorize a strike by an overwhelming majority. The 99% vote in favor of a strike was across four unions that represent more than 14,000 workers — including custodians, ride operators, candymakers and merchandise clerks. The unions cited economic hardship for their members, including housing and food insecurity. They entered contract negotiations with the entertainment giant in April but thus far have been unable to reach an agreement. The authorization doesn’t mean a strike will happen immediately. If one does occur, it would be the first at Disneyland in 40 years.
