Trump

Daily Boulder -  Special Counsel Jack Smith has unveiled a substantial body of evidence against Donald Trump, seeking a gag order in the classified documents case. In court filings on June 26, federal prosecutors compiled numerous exhibits to support their argument for Judge Aileen Cannon to impose restrictions on Trump’s public statements. The request comes amidst Trump’s plea of not guilty to 40 charges, including allegations of unlawfully retaining classified materials and obstructing federal retrieval efforts post-presidency.

The urgency for a gag order surged following Trump’s baseless claim that President Joe Biden had authorized the FBI to use deadly force during a search at Mar-a-Lago last August. This falsehood, which Trump amplified in a fundraising email, sparked concerns of inciting violence against law enforcement officials. Federal prosecutors underscored the gravity of Trump’s rhetoric, arguing that it jeopardizes the safety of law enforcement personnel. They pointed to Trump’s social media posts and public remarks, which they claim have engendered threats and intimidation towards judges and court staff.Don't Miss

The Department of Justice’s submissions included alarming incidents such as threats made against judges overseeing cases involving Trump, including Judge Tanya Chutkan and Judge Arthur Engoron. These threats included targeted attacks on their homes and ominous voicemails, illustrating the volatile climate exacerbated by Trump’s statements.

Additionally, prosecutors highlighted instances where Trump’s supporters allegedly acted on his inflammatory rhetoric. One such case involved an attempted attack on an FBI office in Ohio shortly after Trump lambasted the agency for conducting the Mar-a-Lago search. The suspect, Ricky Shiffer, posted a threat on social media before being fatally shot by police.

Media Matters - Extremist commentator Christiane Northrup has promoted a pro-Nazi film that denies the Holocaust, encouraged people to check out the infamous antisemitic tract Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and repeatedly pushed the conspiracy theory that a secretive mafia is hiding behind Jewish identity to control world events. Still, Northrup has spoken twice at Trump’s Miami resort alongside Eric and Lara Trump and been featured in a Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign video.  Northrup is a former OBGYN who initially gained fame as a self-help author who was praised by Oprah Winfrey. Since then, as The Washington Post reported in May 2022, Northrup has claimed COVID-19 “was part of a plot involving Deep State brainwashing and treacherous depopulation schemes” and she “encouraged fans to check out QAnon, called the Centers for Disease Control a ‘covid death cult,’ and described the vaccines as crimes against humanity.”

Politicususa - As Trump and Biden get ready to debate, it is important to remember that Trump took $5.5 million from the Chinese government and failed to disclose hundreds of Chinese trademarks that he owns.

According to a report by House Oversight Committee Democrats:  The Committee’s Democratic staff has documented more than $5.5 million in spending at Trump-owned properties during former President Trump’s time in office by the government of the People’s Republic of China (P.R.C.), as well as by the state-owned Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Hainan Airlines Holding Company, a Chinese state owned airline. Former President Trump violated the Constitution when the businesses he owned accepted these emoluments paid by the P.R.C. without the consent of Congress. Critically, these figures are based on the limited records from Mazars that are available to the Committee and on a public record maintained by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As such, these emoluments represent the minimum amount of unconstitutional payments from the government of the P.R.C. and state-owned entities that Trump-owned businesses accepted during former President Trump’s term.

This report also discusses former President Trump’s recent disclosures regarding a sprawling trademark portfolio that the government of the P.R.C. enlarged during President Trump’s term. Although Mr. Trump was required to complete a financial disclosure form each year that he was in office, he “neglected to include hundreds of trademarks he owns” on these forms during his presidency.119 As Business Insider noted: “The belated disclosures mean that Americans had little insight into the scope of Trump’s foreign asset holdings during his presidency, and are only learning about them as he runs for a second term in the 2024 election.”120 Notably, if not surprisingly, the ability of Trump family businesses to secure trademarks in China improved markedly and rapidly after Trump entered office.

The corruption doesn’t stop at trademarks. In 2022, the Department of Justice revealed that Trump took hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions from China.
