Polling update

As of 2021, 25% of 40-year-olds in the United States had never been married. This was a significant increase from 20% in 2010, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of Census Bureau data.

In a spring 2023 survey, half of U.S. adults said they disapprove of selective colleges and universities taking race and ethnicity into account in admissions decisions, while a third said they approve. And 49% said this practice makes the overall admissions process less fair, compared with 20% who said it makes the process fairer.

With total gun-related deaths in the U.S. reaching new annual highs, 60% of Americans view gun violence as a very big problem and 62% expect it to increase over the next five years. The public is evenly split on whether gun ownership does more to increase or reduce safety overall.
