Just wondering. . .

Sam Smith - My support for gay and transgender rights not withstanding, I confess to being troubled by how these groups are using language to describe themselves. I see it as another example of well educated liberals ignoring the rule long established in my mind by a high school teacher who told us, "Speaka United States." LGBTQIA+ is not a normal way of speaking nor is using they as a purported singular instead of he or she. I don't have a good alternative to either but feel, as a writer, it is my duty to complain about these terms.
