Meanwhile. . .

Reader Larry Smith writes: "Cannot believe how many times I have heard or read the phrase “uncharted territory” since the Trump indictment was announced. Heard it last  night on CNN, NBC, and ABC news and in this  morning's NYT." True, but at least not as frequent as the guest reply to a  TV host: "That's an excellent question."

Only 59 of the 193 UN member states have ever had a woman as the head of government, including 13 countries that are currently led by women. In nine of the countries currently led by women, the head of government is the first woman to hold the job. Three countries have seen their first-ever woman leader take office in the past year: Peru, Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

More than twice as many Americans support the U.S. government banning TikTok as oppose it (50% vs. 22%), though a sizable share (28%) are not sure, according to a new Pew Research Center survey that comes amid intensifying scrutiny of the Chinese-owned video-sharing app.

Americans view 14 of 16 federal agencies more favorably than unfavorably, according to a survey of 10,701 adults conducted March 13-19 by Pew Research Center. Of those 14 agencies, 11 have net favorable ratings of 15 points or more. Topping the list are the National Park Service (81% favorable), the U.S. Postal Service (77%) and NASA (74%). Smaller majorities have favorable impressions of other agencies, including the Social Security Administration (61% favorable) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS, 55%).

Only 51% of U.S. workers say they are extremely or very satisfied with their job overall, with older and higher-income workers most likely to say this. Relatively few workers are highly satisfied with their their workplace opportunities and how much they are paid, though majorities do express satisfaction with their relationship with their co-workers and boss.
