Retired DC public school teacher Erich Martel sends us this story that "recalls the 1966 refusal of the Georgia state House of Representatives to seat newly elected Representative and civil rights activist Julian Bond (1940-2015; coincidentally born in Nashville) for having publicly endorsed the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee’s (SNCC) characterization of the US war in Vietnam as “aggression” and encouraged young men to seek legal alternatives to the military draft.prosecute white lynch mobs.
