Sam Smith - One thing about the Trump-DisSantis crisis that doesn’t get enough attention is that it is historically unique. We have never had a political party whose leading candidates have been so openly willing to destroy our constitutional status and the way we treat those who aren’t just like them. I covered my first Washington story 66 years ago and I can’t think of anything remotely like what is going now. If Trump or DeSantis is elected president it is highly likely that the first American republic will be dead.
As just one example, the GOP is not only attacking ethnic minorities, gays and transgendered Americans, they are now going after child labor laws that were introduced over eight decades ago. They’re not just going after adult minorities; they are now targeting your kids as well.
