Sam Smith - A BBC story about saving old pianos gives me an excuse for telling my piano story. Back in 1970 I called Kitt's Music store in DC and asked if they had any old uprights available. They said I'd just have to come down and see what they had. So I did and they only had one upright - an 1898 Steinway for $300. Amazed, I bought it and enjoyed it for about 40 years when I turned it over to one of my sons who still plays it.
