Call me the perennial pessimist, but i find no comfort in that humans have to have laws to make sure humans do not completely despoil the basic buildings blocks of life in water, air and soil. Our intellect is supposed to be a key differentiation of upright balding ape from all other fauna; the opposable thumb not being an exclusive, although it might be the most dexterous of all incarnations. Yet, in objective analysis, our intellect is puny compared to greed, hence all the regulations and penalties to supposedly deter if not hold people accountable. Rue the day human manages to jump across existence via stargate. At least Newtonian physics will limit our stupidity to this speck of dust....
