More American adults say they don’t expect to have a child

It's easy to accept you will never be able to afford children in current US society, by convincing yourself you don't want them.

It's easier to put the idea of children out of mind, than to spend every waking day in an angry rage that you never had a chance to make that decision for yourself, because you live in a society that is focused on giving all the wealth and opportunity to the rich at the expense of decent lives for ordinary people.

Besides, the way K-12 education has become a cash cow for test and textbook companies instead of for educating children and building community, doesn't recommend parenthood. It's no wonder that younger adults (under 40s) feel that raising children is not an option, and putting children through the public education system they just escaped would be cruel.
