It would seem like a conundrum. Bragging about being No.1, thinking one is ‘perfect’ – at least compared to , well… just about everybody else I guess. And yet, the rest of the world sees that ‘the emperor has no clothes’.
But is there disparity here? NO! Not in the minds of the ‘greatest’ people on earth! Must be Fake News!
In a way, life in the U.S. is becoming something of a Matrix.
In one world, Government learned that Any Notoriety is Good Publicity. It started innocently, with Bonzo going to Washington, where an “Aww Shucks” kinda guy got in Way over his head, and the Repugs learned that government doesn’t need an actual ‘leader’, when its easier to prop-up someone with a winning smile and good haircut - and just tell him what to say.
But people became a little more sophisticated, and wanted “Reality”. We tried a black Democrat; but then ‘Merica focused it ‘love-and-attention’ on a man who arguably wasn’t smarter than a fifth-grader, and had all the qualities of what we’ve come to define as our ‘lowest-common-denominator’, minus the charm. A person who’d rather “Rule” than “Govern”. Although, in reality, it may have been that America just couldn’t accept ‘that woman’.
Maybe if ‘that woman’ had only gone out and made a sleezy movie or something...
Now we seem to have a President who is steeped in actual ‘reality’. You know, real diplomats for diplomacy, and scientists for… scientific stuff ( Covid19, EPA, CDC, Climate ). Real ‘government’.
Trouble is… Republicans think its 1984, and like the idea of a Matrix. A ‘world’ where “Orwellian” is something to strive for, not abhor. A world where a leader can claim credit for a vaccine, yet lead the way among QAnon and Anti-Vaxers. A world where Pro-Life is demanded, yet killing of all that disagree with you is almost universally supported. A world where natural disasters might be blamed upon some individual’s sexuality. A world where ‘hate’ becomes a driving force for ‘community’, in the name of god.
“Merica is out here. And you can’t “make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”.

All of those thigs are related and specifically implicate rule by the rich and all of the work to prevent people from voting.
So little to be proud about! So much work to do! If the power of the vote is lost, all may be lost!
