Gerrymandering at work

Dan Crenshaw’s (R-TX) district is what we mean when we say gerrymandering is a problem.

IN 2020 GOP got over 35% of the vote in California. It only got 21% of the House seats. In 2018 it was worse for them. They got about 35% of the vote but only got 13% of seats. In fact if California was property districted, Kevin McCarthy would not be Speaker.

The California State Senate and Assembly have similarly distorted results.

I've never voted for a GOP candidate, but I don't think this kind of distortion is good in a 'democracy'. But one thing I'd note: maybe California actually needs districts like Houston so seats will more closely reflect voting results.

The problem isn't bizarre districts. The problem is the stupid voting system we have. Some kind of list system, or just having multi seat districts would work better.
