"Cement is the source of about 8% of the world's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, according to think tank Chatham House.

If the cement industry were a country, it would be the third largest emitter in the world - behind China and the US. It contributes more CO2 than aviation fuel (2.5%) and is not far behind the global agriculture business (12%). "

Can you stand a windmill on a ridge without a huge amount of cement? Has anyone bothered to see how many windmills it will take to offset what ever portion of electricity production it is to represent? Now factor in the new user of electricity that has to be provided for as electric personal and commercial vehicles is pursued. Don't forget the ever constant growth woven into our society. There is little green about anything we have done to get here, and there is little green about the proposed solutions.

The real laugh is on anyone pushing for humans on Mars. No need to waste all that money. Just stick around here, we are steadfastly on a path to consume this planet into a desert.
