Word: Immigration

Robert Reich  - Next time you hear someone railing against immigrants, mention these facts:
  • 1) Immigrants add ~$1.5 trillion to U.S. GDP annually.
  • 2) They are less likely to commit crimes.
  • 3) They pay billions in taxes every year.
Harper's Magazine - "Why should we be deported? This is very, very hard for a family. What will our fellow citizens think if honest subjects are faced with such a decree — not to mention the great material losses it would incur. I would like to become a Bavarian citizen again." – Friedrich Trump
From a letter written in 1905 by Friedrich Trump, Donald Trump’s grandfather, to Prince Luitpold of Bavaria. Trump had been ordered to leave Bavaria for failing to complete forced military service and register his initial emigration to the United States.

Reich is such a damned shill!

- that increase in GDP goes into the pockets of the rich. Working-class productivity has increased by 300% since Reagan, or maybe 1976, I don't quite remember. But how much of that did we get? Nothing.

- FactCheck.org: there aren’t readily available nationwide crime statistics broken down by immigration status. But the available research that estimates the relationship between illegal immigration and crime generally shows an association with lower crime rates.

- Billions in taxes may be withheld from illegals' pay each year, but it doesn't reach the tax office because then the employer would have to 'splain himself. So the employer-scum just keep the money--a two-fer!
