Huffington Post - Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) has outlined his stance as a firm opponent of marijuana, but during his confirmation hearing Tuesday, he offered only vague answers about how he might approach the drug should he be confirmed as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general.
Although Sessions appeared to suggest there wouldn’t be radical changes in federal policy toward weed, he also left the door open for increased federal interference.

It's understood that Sessions has been against cannabis for decades. But with many states having legalized to some extent, there's a lot of money on the table with new business ventures and they have pushed back against J. Beauregard.
It's an odd equation that reflects our corporate, hot-money economy: though voters have supported them, patients and individual growers' rights are very much in question, while large, profit-driven entities are having their say behind closed doors. That's why Sessions has backed off.
