Hitler made promises of jobs, etc. He kept them. He promised quick wars and kept that promise until 1941. Inside a project to control every inch of the globe. Inherited in the current neocon 1000 year plan. There are no promises possible right now. We've actually regressed back to before 1776 to being a minor player in a global empire. It would take a Revolution just to get a republic that could deliver a sustainable democracy in which promises could be made.All that can be done is to make declarations and defend them. Like Independence would be a good idea but is unamerican, e.g. independence from Netanyahu, or Goldman, how OWS or Ukraine etc were crushed violently, etc.
