Independent, UK - We are now able to predict solar cycles with far greater accuracy
than ever before thanks to a new model which shows irregularities in the
sun’s 11-year heartbeat. The model shows that solar activity will fall by 60 per cent between 2030 and 2040 causing a "mini ice age". The
conditions predicted have not been experienced since the last "mini ice
age" which lasted from 1645 to 1715, called the Maunder Minimum.

This is announced annually and it's always the same story, the helioseismologist talk about the possibility of a grand minimum in sun spot activity like the maunder minimum of the 17th century, NOT saying anything about how the maunder minimum caused the little ice age, and NOT saying anything about another little ice age, because both statements would be very silly, and then the media report just the opposite.
The maunder minimum happened in the middle of the little ice age, it could not cause it, it amounted to one tenth of a watt per square meter decline in solar forcing, contributing about 0.3 degrees Celsius of cooling to an already centuries old drop in global average temperatures for seven or so decades. In the past half century alone anthropogenic greenhouse gases have already contributed over a watt per square meter increase in radiative forcing, completely burying any signal from a possible grand minimum.
If you go read some actual science reporting to find out what the scientists actually said you find out that the scientists in question made no such warning, made no such prediction, and did not say the thing the headline and story says they said. The Independent is just making shit up.
"Meanwhile, real scientist who study the cyclical movement within nature are observing what we have been warning about – a coming Ice Age not global warming."
