Iowa labor leaders endorse Sanders

Globe Gazette - Fourteen Iowa labor leaders are among more than 1,000 nationwide calling on unions to support Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

“I’m not often impressed with a candidate but Sanders seems very genuine” said Steve Abbott, president of CWA Local 7108 in Waterloo and head of the CWA’s Iowa state council.

“From my perspective, and I always listen to all of the candidates and have been close to many candidates over the years, what Bernie says is the truth,” said Abbott, who has been working on campaigns since 1980.

No, it isn't the truth. The truth is that there will never be jobs. Never. Robotics is causing work to disappear at an accelerating rate. This is the course of technology, a thousands year trend culminating right now. As work disappears, so must jobs. The answer is job sharing: a 30, 20, 10 hour full time work week, with graduating pay to virtually prohibit overtime. Of course also the benefits of technology must be shared. The benefits are not going to the inventors and invention is less and less important than development anyway.

Someone needs to stop lying. Bernie shows no sign of stepping up and telling the truth.

No one seems to be ready to talk about the end of economic growth either.
