Talking Points Memo - Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said in an interview that because he’s unmarried, the White House would have a “rotating first lady” if he were elected President.
Graham’s comments were made during an interview with the Daily Mail Online in which the 59-year-old discussed his 2016 presidential candidacy, which he’d announced on June 1.
“Well, I’ve got a sister. She could play that role if necessary,” Graham said. “I’ve got a lot of friends. We’ll have a rotating first lady.”
“I’m actually a fun guy. I'm a lot of fun to hang around with. Just ask people who know me,” Graham said. “I think I've got a pretty good reputation of bein' easygoing.”
If elected, Graham would be the first bachelor President since Woodrow Wilson and would be only the third U.S. President to be sworn into office unmarried. James Buchanan and Grover Cleveland are the two other Presidents who hold this distinction, although Buchanan was the only President to have remained a bachelor
