Word; Thugs

The current faux controversy over the use of the word "thug" is one more example of how little history matters in today's society. The term has its roots in India of the 14th century and has been used over the years to describe all sorts of people who are cruel bullies often engaged in illegal activity. It was not invented by hip hop and it is not the same as the N word. It has been used to describe mobsters, destructive anarchists and blackmailers, usually  white. We even came across its use in a book to describe those opposing civil rights.
