How would you like to die?

Would you rather be beheaded by ISIS or by Saudi Arabia? Or die thanks to an American drone in Parkistan?  Or in an electric chair in Texas?

Killing civilians an evil business no matter how it is carried out, but in view of the current reaction to the ISIS beheadings it might be useful to keep some other facts in mind, based on the best stats we could find:
  • Between 112,000 and 123,000 civilians were killed during America's failed invasion of Iraq.
  • About 21,000 civilians were killed during America's failed invasion of Afghanistan.
  • Over 400 civilians - including 160 children - were killed by American drones in Pakistan.
  • In 2013 the Saudis executed 79 persons - many by beheading.
  • Around 50 civilians have been killed in American bombings of Syria
  • In 2013 America executed 39 civilians. Texas has executed 512 since 2007 and Virginia and Oklahoma have executed 110 and Florida has executed 85
  • ISIS has beheaded around 27 civilians in the past year.

Iraq Body Count has a higher number (and climbing):

From 2012:
A recent exposé in the New York Times partially helped to explain the White House’s astonishingly low estimates by revealing that the Obama administration considers “all military-age males [killed] in a strike zone” to be “combatants . . . unless there is explicit intelligence posthumously proving them innocent.”[20] How the US would go about gathering such posthumous evidence is unclear, in part because drone victims’ bodies are frequently dismembered, mutilated, and burned beyond recognition.[21] And importantly, there is little evidence that US authorities have engaged in any effort to visit drone strike sites or to investigate the backgrounds of those killed.[22] Indeed, there is little to suggest that the US regularly takes steps even to identify all of those killed or wounded.
