Sam, you don't seem to understand the basic principle involved here.
If our enemies commit atrocities, it is torture. That makes it evil.
If we do it, it is enhanced interrogation. That makes it okay.
Seriously, I often tell people that if we weren't serious about Nurenberg - we never should have brought war crime charges in the first place.
