Paul D Shinkman, US News - U.S. special operations forces in Africa received a tip that senior al-Shabab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane was at an insurgent camp in an area south of the capital Mogadishu in south-central Somalia. They deployed both piloted aircraft and drones late Monday night, and dropped Hellfire missiles and laser-guided bombs on the camp and a nearby vehicle, destroying both. No U.S. forces were on the ground for the mission....
Intelligence agencies, as well as local and international military forces, now wait to see how and if the organization is able to regroup. Eliminating top leadership within extremist cells has previously paved the way for even more brutal, violent and ambitious leaders to step to the forefront. U.S. forces, for example, largely defeated al-Qaida in Iraq during the war there, only for it to flee to Syria, regain strength and return to Iraq early this year as the Islamic State.

Bin Laden had 19 brothers and sisters, most in Saudi Arabia, who could be tortured and/or killed by the king at any time. Surely no one in his right mind believes that Bin Laden would have even dared to scratch his behind unless the king willed it. If you have as much money as the king has, men to front terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the PLO are to him a dime a dozen. There will always be plenty more. The path to peace in the Middle East is house to house in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis are riding a tiger, they have been doing it for a very long time, and they are very good at it.
