NY Times - The U.S. military said on Tuesday that it had struck military targets in Iran in retaliation for Iranian attacks on ships and U.S. forces in the region, raising the risk of the conflict escalating once again.

Hours later, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps announced that the country had launched a “regretful response” to America’s strikes, though the group did not say how it was retaliating or where. It also accused the United States of bombing sites on the southern coast of Iran, including several civilian locations.

The exchange of strikes came after the two countries traded attacks on Sunday, puncturing a monthlong calm since President Trump pulled back after concerns over dwindling U.S. munition stockpiles, and unveiled a campaign to strangle Iran’s economy. The hostilities underscore that the conflict, which began six months ago, appears far from a durable solution.
