NPR - On the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, Trump held a "Save America" rally at the Ellipse, a site near the White House and U.S. Capitol. Multiple speakers promoted voter fraud myths and urged Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election. Meanwhile, a group of 200 Proud Boys marched toward the Capitol. Before Trump’s speech ended, violence erupted on Capitol grounds. The Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol “was the most videotaped crime in American history, if not world history,” according to Greg Rosen, a former federal prosecutor who led the Justice Department unit that investigated the riot. But conspiracy theories still falsely label the assault a "normal tourist visit." NPR’s review of thousands of court videos shows rioters assaulting officers with weapons, calling for executions and looting the building. These videos show the exact timing of events as they occurred. Corresponding maps show the locations where the conflict took place.

Why oh why do we let our media characterize Jan 6 as an attack on the Capitol? It was an ATTACK ON THE CONGRESS. The executive branch organized a a literal violent attack on the legislative branch with the stated goal of killing members of Congress, for the stated purpose of overthrowing the 2020 election.
The turning point in the collapse of the American Republic was the moment the Congress failed to convict the president during the impeachment. So now we have a dictator and no way out.
The (undone) killing was part of a bullying campaign as a last ditch to being re-appointed as President, and Trump was willing to let the mob eat his Vice-President if that's what it took. More proof if anything that Trump is mentally disturbed/functionally sociopathic and should never been in the Highest Office in the first place. We have re-elected a monster, and now must ask the UN or the Red Chinese to invade to take him off our hands.
