Minnesota

Newsweek - Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has said he will never run for an elected office again.... "Every minute I spend defending my own political interests would be a minute I can't spend defending the people of Minnesota against the criminals who prey on our generosity and the cynics who prey on our differences," he said at the time. "So I've decided to step out of the race and let others worry about the election while I focus on the work."

Time  -   Trump's 'border czar' Tom Homan told reporters in Minneapolis on Thursday. “We are not going to surrender our mission at all, we're just going to do it smarter,” he said.

Trump hastily sent Homan, a former acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to Minnesota on Monday night for emergency meetings with local officials. In a press conference on Thursday, Homan said he had met with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, all of whom had been outspoken critics of Trump’s decision to deploy heavily armed, masked immigration agents to make arrests on the streets.

... He said he is working on “making this operation safer, more efficient, by the book.” Those comments appeared to be a thinly-veiled critique of the leadership of Border Patrol.
commander Gregory Bovino, who openly encouraged the harsh tactics and has reportedly been transferred out of the state.

NBC News - Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar is running for governor, she announced in a video posted to social media. The Democratic senator’s decision was widely expected after the current governor, Tim Walz, said he would exit the race.
