Off shore wind projects

Axios - Battles over the murky future of U.S. offshore wind projects are expanding in several directions, so here's the latest...

⚖️ The North American Building Trades Union is joining litigation opposing Trump 2.0's halt of the Revolution Wind project off Rhode Island.

  • The union's newly filed amicus brief signals how the emerging offshore industry — and fighting efforts to end it — is a labor priority.
  • Last month's freeze "has imperiled the job security of its affiliates' members, who would work nearly 300,000 more hours on the Revolution Wind project if not for the Stop Work Order," an amicus brief in a D.C. federal court states.

🤝 Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has been absolutely trashing offshore wind — over subsidies and more — in European appearances and interviews this week. He told reporters at the Gastech conference in Italy that five projects are under review, and that "under this administration ... there is not a future for offshore wind."

  • "Governors in the US Northeast are considering dropping resistance to natural gas pipelines and other fossil fuel projects" to persuade Trump officials to let projects move forward, Bloomberg reports. And Politico has a nice map of projects and their status.
