Wall Street Journal - Thomas Donlon accused them of engaging in racketeering, wire fraud and obstruction of justice; he wants a federal takeover of the NYPD and a special monitor to root out corruption. A spokeswoman for Adams, a former police captain, said Donlon’s claims are absurd. The NYPD didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The allegations will renew scrutiny of Adams’s administration as he runs for a second term in November. Four former police officials filed separate lawsuits last week alleging top brass were selling promotions.
