Sam Smith - While Trump is doing his evil we need to not only fight it but do good things that provide an alternative. Too often in a crisis like this, the evil not only parade their actions but obscure the good alternatives.
For example, last night in my small town in Maine, I went to a meeting about our future. Not only were there a lot of people present, they took part in the discussion with good questions and ideas. Nobody proposed anything evil. It didn't surprise me. I have yet to meet anyone here as bad as Donald Trump.
We don't give enough credit to what we do at the local and the state level but along with fighting Trump it will key to protecting democracy and decency.
There are lots of things we can do but a good start would be to increase the teaching of civics in our schools and supporting our best non-profits.
We need not only to fight the evil but boost its alternatives.

It would be revealing to know what percentage If any, aecondary schools offer or teach civics. in the current year. Somehow educators have neglected this important subject which is integral to denocracy
