DONALD TRUMP

Iranian Agents Plotted to Kill Trump, U.S. Says in Unsealed Charges

Epoch Times -  A federal judge on Friday granted special counsel Jack Smith’s request to provide him more time to look into the “unprecedented circumstances” of his election-related case against President-elect Donald Trump following his Tuesday election victory. In court papers filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Smith wrote that “as a result of the election” held on Tuesday and because of the expectation that Trump will be “certified as president-elect” on Jan. 6, 2025, and inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2025, he is asking the court to vacate several pretrial deadlines that were ordered.

Smith said that his team needs to “assess the unprecedented circumstances and determine the appropriate course going forward consistent with Department of Justice policy,” according to the court filing. Next month, Smith will file a report or will inform the court of his office’s deliberations on the matter, the court papers say, which added that Trump’s attorneys have not objected to their request after conferring with them.Minutes later, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan granted Smith’s request, vacating all remaining pretrial deadlines in the case. She ordered the special counsel’s office to file a status report by Dec. 2.

Newsweek -  President-elect Donald Trump's attorney Mike Davis told New York Attorney General Letitia James, "We're not messing around this time and we will put your fata** in prison for conspiracy against rights." Davis joined The Benny Show on Thursday and told conservative commentator and YouTuber Benny Johnson that he dares James to "continue your lawfare against President Trump." In 2018, James campaigned to "take on" then-President Donald Trump, and in February, she won a civil fraud case against Trump and top Trump Organization executives.

NPR - It's been almost four years since a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Trump has promised to pardon these rioters once he returns to the White House. Federal authorities charged more than 1,000 people in connection with the Jan. 6 attack. Trump has called the people facing charges hostages and political prisoners. This massive investigation is one of the largest in the history of the Justice Department, NPR’s Ryan Lucas says. It started on the day of the riot and remains ongoing. The defendants are aware of Trump's promises and are seeking pardons. This includes both non-violent offenders and individuals convicted of attacking police officers, among other serious charges. Approximately 200 people have been convicted at trial, including members of two far-right extremist groups: the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys.
