Melania Trump has a memoir coming out – and she’s acting pretty strangely

AP News - The suspect in Sunday's apparent assassination attempt did not have a line of sight on Donald Trump and never fired his weapon, the Secret Service said. In a press conference, the agency's acting director said protective measures are "working."

Washington Post - Soon after Donald Trump became president, authorities tried to warn him about the risks posed by golfing at his own courses because of their proximity to public roads. Secret Service agents came armed with unusual evidence: not suspect profiles or spent bullet casings, but simple photographs taken by news crews of him golfing at his private club in Sterling, Va. They reasoned that if photographers with long-range lenses could get the president in their sights while he golfed, so, too, could potential gunmen, according to former U.S. officials involved in the discussions.

Alternet -  Donald Trump is facing fierce backlash from a California firefighters union three days after the ex-president threatened to withhold fire rescue aid from the state as the number of wildfires are expected to increase in the coming years, East Bay Times reports."As of today, thousands of firefighters are on the front lines responding to wildfires throughout the state, and countless Californians are in harm's way as they heed evacuation orders," California Professional Firefighters President Brian K. Rice wrote in a statement posted to X on Friday, September 13. The union, according to the report, "represents around 35,000 career firefighters and emergency medical service" professionals.

"Nevertheless, former President Trump expressed that he would play with their lives and their homes if he doesn't get what he wants," Rice continued. "He would rather watch our state burn in the name of his political games, than to send help if he were to become president again."

Axios reports that Trump threatened during a Friday press conference to "withhold fire rescue aid from California" if the state’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom refused to back the MAGA leader’s policies.

Hillary Clinton talking to Rachel Maddow -  I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is... Part of what Trump is counting on is for people to get desensitized...

Americans need to understand that they have to take Trump both seriously and literally, he has said what he wants to do. He and his allies with Project 2025 his desire to be a dictator, at least on day one, all of that is in the public record. And I believe that more Americans have to be, you know, willing to endure what frankly is discomforting and to some extent, kind of painful to take him at his word and to be outraged by he represents. And then finally, the hopeful side of this is that I do think more and more  Americans are, you know, rejecting the kind of chaos that he represents. We can’t go back. That’s what the Harris campaign says all the time.

Washington Post - The 58-year-old suspect spent nearly 12 hours in the bushes at the Florida golf course where Trump was playing before agents spotted his rifle, officials said yesterday. The suspect was charged with two gun-related crimes. And Trump said he blames President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for Sunday’s incident. More

NPR -  Ryan Routh, the man arrested and accused of planning to assassinate former President Donald Trump Sunday, has a lengthy contradictory online history. Some of it has been in favor of Trump and some urged violence against him. In addition to his social media posts and a self-published book, Routh has been interviewed by major media outlets about his attempts to fight the Russians in Ukraine. He also has a long history of trouble with the law, including a 2002 conviction on a felony charge of possessing a weapon of mass destruction. Here’s what else we know about him.
