POGO -An investigation this month made public the extent of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s use of deadly force.Documents obtained by Business Insider and The Trace and Type Investigations revealed that “from 2015 to 2021, ICE agents were responsible for 59 shootings” across the country, resulting in the deaths of 23 people. It’s not clear if the officers responsible for the shootings were disciplined or held accountable in any way. No officers were charged for any of these shootings.ICE has long operated under a shroud of secrecy — in fact, its current use-of-force policy is itself a secret. Last year, a report by the Government Accountability Office found that ICE and other law enforcement agencies under the Department of Homeland Security were not properly documenting use-of-force incidents.
