Slate - You’re nearly twice as likely to be in the same room as a bisexual person
than a gay or lesbian person, yet you’re far less likely to know it.
According to a 2023 Gallup survey,
4.4 percent of U.S. adults identify as bisexual, compared to 2.6
percent as lesbian or gay. But only 19 percent of bisexual people are
out to the important people in their lives, compared to 75 percent of
gay and lesbian people. An “invisible majority,” bisexuals make up more
than half the people under the queer umbrella—and its fastest-growing
segment—but are far less commonly represented in popular media and
community resources.
