Trump

The Hill - Donald Trump falsely asserted Tuesday that he beat former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in every GOP presidential primary this cycle, despite Haley beating him in two races earlier this year,

Political Wire A new Data for Progress poll finds that 56% of likely voters approve of the jury finding Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts while 38% disapprove.

YouGov America - New post-verdict poll: 58% of Republicans say that someone who has been convicted of a felony should be allowed to become president 17% said so in April

Roll Call - House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan on Monday recommended using the congressional appropriations process to curtail prosecutions against former President Donald Trump. The Ohio Republican pitched a series of policy riders for fiscal 2025 appropriations bills in a letter to the House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole. One proposed policy rider goes after special counsel John L. “Jack” Smith’s office, which has brought criminal charges against Trump in Florida and the District of Columbia. The rider would prohibit funding for an “office of a Special Counsel, who has not been confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a U.S. Attorney,” from being used “to bring a criminal prosecution of a former or current President or Vice President.”

Robert Reich - Elon Musk and convicted felon Donald Trump have been in contact several times a month since their private meeting in March at the home of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, according to The Wall Street Journal. They're discussing an advisory role for Musk if Trump wins back the White House in November - potentially giving Musk influence over economic policy. Musk has already briefed Trump about his plans to invest in a data-driven project to prevent voter fraud (which, as I noted yesterday, is almost nonexistent). And Musk has committed his social media platform, X, to host live video town halls with Trump ahead of the election.  Musk is also using X to spread conspiracy theories that Democrats are intentionally "importing" millions of undocumented immigrants to vote in elections. Musk has accused Biden of "treason" and claimed that if Democrats win control of the White House and Congress in November, America "will become a permanent one-party deep socialist state."

Epoch Times - Two attorneys and an aide face felony forgery charges in Wisconsin for their alleged role in a so-called alternate electors plan involving submitting “alternate” or, as some allege, “fake” electoral certificates for President Donald Trump in Wisconsin in a bid to preserve his claim of victory in the 2020 election amid pending legal challenges to the official results. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat, on Tuesday filed charges against Trump-allied attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and Jim Troupis, as well as former Trump aide Mike Roman, accusing them of helping to submit paperwork stating that President Trump had won the battleground state in 2020. Each of the accused faces a single count of forgery-uttering... which is a class H felony punishable by up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The relevant statute makes it a crime for whoever “utters as genuine” a forged legal document or public record.
